Bush beats Nixon’s disapproval ratings for the 1st time in history

Sixty-four percent of Americans disapprove of the job President Bush is doing, and for “the first time in the history of the Gallup Poll, 50% say they ’strongly disapprove’ of the president. Richard Nixon had reached the previous high, 48%, just before an impeachment inquiry was launched in 1974.”

Every year, at least 2 million functionally illiterate adults join the ranks of Americans who can't read. If this critical problem isn't addressed soon, society will most certainly pay the price.

Senate passes mammoth $648 billion defense bill

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This Monday the U.S. Senate passed a defense bill which pledges an additional $128 billion dollars of the tax payers money to the failed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of course, this is all off budget, "emergency spending" which means our government will have to borrow more money from China in order to pay for it.

U.S. government fast approaching its current $8.965 trillion credit limit

Congress has voted to raise to credit limit to $9.815 trillion. The current U.S. government doesn't seem able to do anything beside spend, spend and spend some more. This debt will be inherited by the children and grandchildren of the average Americans.

Bush Wants $50 Billion More for Iraq War

President Bush plans to ask Congress next month for up to $50 billion in additional funding for the war in Iraq, a White House official said yesterday, a move that appears to reflect increasing administration confidence that it can fend off congressional calls for a rapid drawdown of U.S. forces.
