Snake oil and other fabulous concoctions.

Persons suffering from AIDS and HIV have been abandoning their antiviral medication increasingly, turning to what amounts to snake oil and false promises. While there is no cure to HIV, the medication available for treating the disease is handed out freely in South Africa, one of the world's most AIDS infected region; this doesn't stop people's belief in magical cure though, some people have given up on the medical cure and have turned to a magical potion being handed out by a truck driver who says he received the recipe for it in a dream. Will their magical beans amount to a beanstalk, of course not and they will suffer heavily because of their stubborn choices and these false promises.

"Hispanic birth rate soars in Southeast"

"Associated Press

ATLANTA -- Hispanic births are skyrocketing in the Southeast, where an increase of at least 40 percent was recorded in five states between 2000 and 2003, according to a new government report.

Among the states with the largest increases were Kentucky (80 percent), South Carolina (62 percent), Alabama (53 percent), Tennessee (53 percent) and Arkansas (40 percent), the report found.

The report, from the National Center for Health Statistics, is called the first state-by-state breakdown of birth and fertility rates in the U.S. Hispanic population.

U.S. births for non-Hispanic whites decreased 10 percent between 1990 and 2000, and 2 percent between 2000 and 2003, the report showed. Births for blacks declined 9 percent and 5 percent, respectively.

In contrast, births for Hispanic women jumped 37 percent between 1990 and 2000, and another 12 percent between 2000 and 2003.

But there were differences in birth and fertility rates among Hispanic sub-populations, noted Paul Sutton, an author of the new report.

"Hispanics are not a monolithic group. There's a tremendous variation" in births among women of Mexican, Puerto Rican and Cuban origin, said Sutton, a statistician and geographer with the National Center for Health Statistics.

Mexican-Americans had the highest birth rates overall, followed by Puerto Ricans and Cuban-Americans. Mexican-Americans gave birth in their teens and early 20s at higher rates, while for Cuban-Americans, the highest birth rate was for women in their late 20s.

And while California and Texas continue to have the largest Mexican populations, North Carolina and Georgia had the highest fertility rates for Mexican mothers.

In North Carolina, there were 181 births per 1,000 Mexican women ages 15 to 44 in 2000. In Georgia, the fertility rate was 180 per 1,000 Mexican women.

In contrast, the U.S. fertility rate for Mexican-American women was 105 per 1,000. California's was 112, and Texas' was 124.

It's not likely Georgia or North Carolina will soon surpass Texas or California in Hispanic births: In 2003, nearly 270,000 babies were born to Hispanic mothers in California and 183,000 in Texas, but 18,000 in Georgia, 16,000 in North Carolina, and 5,000 or fewer in most other Southeast states.

But the relative increase in the Southeast states is notable, and may have implications for health-care facilities and state budgets, particularly if some or many Hispanic families are uninsured.

WakeMed a 515-bed hospital in Raleigh, N.C. saw Hispanic births rise from 463 in 1997 to 1,819 in 2005.

Hispanics account for about 36 percent of the births at the hospital. Most years, more than 90 percent are Mexican, said Dr. Juan Granados, who trains obstetrics residents at the hospital.

Only about 3 percent of the families have health insurance, he said. Fortunately, the state provides a special Medicaid payment to help offset such unreimbursed care, he added.

"So the hospitals don't go into bankruptcy," said Granados, a University of North Carolina professor of obstetrics and gynecology and maternal and fetal medicine.

In the past, most Hispanic mothers were part of migrant farm worker families who came to the Raleigh area for part of the year and then moved on. But lately, many Mexican families seem to be staying year-round, with men taking jobs in construction and landscaping, Granados said."

IDF general: Troops lacking food can steal from Lebanese stores
By Haaretz Service

"If our fighters deep in Lebanese territory are left without food our water, I believe they can break into local Lebanese stores to solve that problem," Brigadier General Avi Mizrahi, the head of the Israel Defense Forces logistics branch, said Monday.

Mizrahi's comments followed complaints by IDF soldiers regarding the lack of food on the front lines.

"If what they need to do is take water from the stores, they can take," Mizrahi told Army Radio.

According to Mizrahi, the logistics branch is prepared for the possibility that combat soldiers will have to remain in Lebanon during the winter.""

The Israeli Soldiers Were Captured INSIDE Lebanon

The Israeli soldiers invaded a sovereign nation and were ambushed by a Hezbollah patrol inside Lebanon outside the city of Aitaa al-Chaab. They were inside Lebanon illegally, a comparable situation would be American soldiers capturing Mexican soldiers when they cross the border. Israel wants a blank check to be able to do anything it wants, they don't care if they are right or wrong.

"Jewish extremists try to enter Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque"

"Jerusalem (ANTARA News) - Jewish extremists demonstrated Thursday at the entrance to Islam's third-holiest site, the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, demanding entrance to the site where Jews believe the Temple stood before its destruction in 70 AD.

Waving blue-and-white flags and dressed in brown rugs to mark the Tisha
B'av fasting day commemorating the Temple's destruction, the group of some 30 people was stopped by a heavily armed police force, AFP reported.

Hundreds of Israeli police deployed across the Old City ahead of Thursday's protest, which in the past has sparked violent clashes with Palestinians.

Despite a high court order allowing the Temple Mount Faithful group to
enter the Al-Aqsa compound, police closed the site for visits, and worshippers under the age of 45 where not allowed to enter.

"Temple Mount has become a base for Hezbollah, Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and all the enemies of the Jewish poeple," the group's leader, Gershon Salomon shouted into a megaphone.

"It is a crime that Jews aren't allowed to enter Temple Mount, the heart
and soul of the Jewish people!" he said.

Huddled around a cardboard model of the second Temple, the protesters urged police to let them in, but after a round of prayers they stepped back and left the site.

Jerusalem police district commander Ilan Franco said afterwards that
"following the Jewish calls to enter the compound and Muslim call to reach the compound and protect it the police prepared with reinforcement.

"We can now say that the day passed quietly with no incidents." (*)

Shut up about Mel Gibson.

I could give a rats ass about what he said and about whom he said it. The media frenzy over one mans anti-jew remarks is absolutely stupid.

First off the media is blowing this Mel Gibson thing way out of proportion, he was DRUNK! Mel Gibson has a known history of alcoholism, and we should be thankful he was pulled over and is entering rehab, but does that matter to the media? Oh no, he made somebody cry, boohoo... get over it.

The media shows the Israelis killing hundreds of civilians on live television, rockets and bombs hitting UN buildings and Red Cross trucks and we hear nothing but the sounds of crickets.

But one man makes an anti-jewish remark while drunk and suddenly the media has a fire lit under their ass and hammers and nails ready so they can crucify him on the wall of political correctness.
