US Postal Rates To Increase

The United States Postal Service announced plans to increase postage rates for the year of 2006. The first class postage stamp will increase from 37 cents to 39 cents. This increase will be used to pay for a 3.1 billion dollar escrow account that Congress requires the USPS create. What is the $3.1 billion for? Nobody knows, not even Congress. The money is to be used by Congress at a later date, pretty much for whatever they want.

OpEd: Tamiflu: Medical Danger?

I have never had a flu shot, I will never be able to have a flu shot. Because of various medical reasons, mostly allergies and such, I will always run the risk of catching the flu (but I haven't yet). Yet, when I hear stories of children dying from the same medication that is supposed to protect them from the flue, I have to wonder about the effectiveness of these medications. Am I safer than those who actually get a shot?!?!? Personally, I think people should take on diseases without being injected with medications. The human immune system is only strong when it has virii and bacteria to practice on. Needless to say, my immune system is ready to fight the good fight.

House Rejects Pullout

Plans To Go All The Way

The House of Representatives rejected a proposal for an immediate pullout of all American troops in the nation of Iraq. President Bush already stated that he would veto such a proposal.

Hal Turner To Hold Rally In Kingston, New York

Hal Turner. a New York radio personality, is holding a rally in front of Kingston High School on Saturday, November 19. Turner organized this rally to protest the assault on Kingston student Robbie Hedrick, a white teenager, who was attacked outside Kingston High School by what he described as several black students. Hedrick has since required several reconstructive surgeries to fix the damage done to his face; the Kingston police have the perpetrators in custody but have not charged them with a hate crime, which Hedrick's mother believes this to be.

Turner organized the rally in order to bring attention to black on white crime rates, and to call for a end to all violence in America's schools. Opponents to the Hal Turner allege that Turner has ulterior motives in this rally, Turner refutes these claims noting that he just wishes for an end to all violence in schools. Noted opponents include D. L. Jenkins, a representative of the One Peoples Project, a group that was allegedly involved in the riots that broke out in Toledo about a month ago. The community of Kingston has given mixed reactions to the rally, providing support for both groups, those for the rally and those against.
